
ARTICLE I --- PREAMBLE
The Midview Athletic Hall of Fame aka MAHOF, is a
memorial to the outstanding individuals and teams who, through their
achievements and efforts in athletics, have brought honor to
themselves, Midview High School and its predecessors, Belden, Eaton
and Grafton High Schools heretofore referred to as Midview High
School, and their community.
ARTICLE II --- PURPOSE
The purpose of the Midview Athletic Hall of Fame is
threefold. First, to recognize and honor those who have brought honor
and fame to Midview High School. Second, to establish in the hearts of
our youth a motivating influence to excel in athletics. Third, to
foster pride, preserve good sportsmanship, scholarship, and
citizenship in our school and community.
In addition to the selection of enshrinees, MAHOF
will present a "Special Recognition" award to individuals who have
contributed their time and efforts in supporting the Midview Schools
Athletic program and its student athletes.
ARTICLE III --- COMMITTEE MEMBERS
The Midview Athletic Hall of Fame Committee shall
consist of the Midview High School Principal, Midview Athletic
Director, a Chairperson, and other representatives as determined by
the Athletic Hall of Fame Committee. The total membership of the
Midview Athletic Hall of Fame Committee shall be not more than 25
members. A member must attend a minimum of four scheduled meetings
and/or functions during the fiscal year. The fiscal year for the
purpose of this article will be July 1 until June 30 . The Executive Committee shall
consist of the officers of the whole committee.
ARTICLE IV --- SELECTION OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS
All members of the Midview Athletic Hall of Fame
Committee shall be either residents of the Midview Local School
District or current or former employees of the Midview Local School
District or graduates of Midview High School. Candidates for
membership shall receive a majority vote of the active members of the
committee.
ARTICLE V --- MEETING DATES
Meeting dates and times for the Midview Athletic
Hall of Fame Committee shall be established by the Chairperson.
ARTICLE VI --- ORDER OF BUSINESS
At the members’ meetings, the Order of Business
shall be as follows:
- Roll Call
- Reading of minutes of previous
meeting
- Committee Reports
- Financial Report
- Officers’
Reports
- Unfinished business
- New or miscellaneous business
- This order may be changed by the affirmative vote
of the majority of the members present.
ARTICLE VII --- COMMITTEES
The following committees shall be standing
committees and Chairperson or Vice Chairperson of the Board who shall
be ex-officio members of each committee:
- Publicity and Public Relations
- Banquet Planning
- Nomination Committee
- Awards and Special Recognition
- Finances
- Printed Programs
- Hospitality
The Chairperson may appoint such other committees as
the Chairperson may from time to time determine necessary.
The Nomination Committee shall be comprised of nine
members selected by the Executive Committee, each serving a three-year
term, with three retiring each year.
ARTICLE VIII --- VOTING RIGHTS
The Athletic Hall of Fame shall operate under the
principal of one member, one vote. In order to vote a member must
attend a minimum of four scheduled meeting/functions in a one year
period. The period of eligibility begins with the first
meeting/function after the Induction vote meeting up to and not
including the next year's Induction vote meeting.
ARTICLE IX --- ENSHRINE SELECTION
Nominations for enshrinees shall be accepted from
the general public on a form approved by the Nomination Committee. The Nomination Committee shall have the right
to determine if there are any other qualified candidates who have not
been nominated by the general public and shall nominate them.
Upon receipt of nominations, the Nomination
Committee shall present to the Midview Athletic Hall of Fame Committee
a minimum of 15 nominations.
ARTICLE X --- VOTING PROCEDURES
- There shall be five successive ballots with one
nominee selected from each ballot. Each voting committee member
votes for three nominees. Any ballot not containing the names of
three nominees is disqualified.
- On the first ballot, the nominee receiving the
greatest number of votes shall be deemed elected. In case of a tie
for the greatest number of votes, a re-vote will be conducted for
the tied persons only. On the second and subsequent ballots, the
nominee previously elected shall be removed from consideration.
- The number of enshrinees installed annually in
the Midview Athletic Hall of Fame induction shall be not more than
five, of which not more than one shall be from a team category. The Committee can make an exception to
this maximum number of inductions by a vote of 50% or more of its
members.
- The names of unelected nominees shall remain on
file and shall be considered for each enshrinement. The Midview
Athletic Hall of Fame Committee shall review the nominations on file
at least once every five years.
- The voting session for selecting enshrinees shall
take place at a meeting to be held prior to July 1st of each year.
- Athletic Hall of Fame members shall be inducted
in September following their election.
ARTICLE XI --- NOMINATIONS
- Any individual using the Midview Athletic Hall of
Fame Nomination Form may make nominations.
- Nominees must be persons who have accomplished
feats in or made contributions to Midview Athletics which are of
sufficient stature to merit permanent recognition in the Athletic
Hall of Fame.
- To be eligible for nomination, an athlete must
have graduated from the Midview Local School District, a minimum of
ten years prior to being considered for enshrinement. The
eligibility for team nominations will be a minimum of five years.
School personnel (coaches, athletic directors, trainers, etc.) are
eligible at the discretion of the committee. There shall be no time limit or restriction of those individuals
nominated strictly for their service to Midview Athletics.
- All nominations shall be forwarded to a
Nomination Committee appointed by the Permanent Chairperson. It shall
be the responsibility of the Nomination Committee to verify that
nominees for induction into the Midview Athletic Hall of Fame meet
all of the eligibility requirements. The Nomination Committee will
also ensure that all information included on the Nomination Form is
factual. The Nomination Committee shall solely have the
responsibility of forwarding the names of qualified nominees to the
Midview Athletic Hall of Fame Committee for a vote.
- There will be no restrictions on nominees related
to education, religion, nationality, race, or sex.
ARTICLE XII --- FINANCE COMMITTEE
The Finance Committee shall be appointed by the
Chairperson. The Chairman of the Finance Committee will obtain
a bank account, as well as sustain and maintain records of all income
and expenditures.
ARTICLE XIII --- PROMOTION OF AFFAIRS
All members of the Midview Athletic Hall of Fame
Committee will be actively involved in promoting good will,
enthusiasm, and financial procurement in the promotion and influence
of the Midview Athletic Hall of Fame.
ARTICLE XIV --- AMENDMENT PROCEDURES
This code of By-Laws may be repealed, amended, or
changed by a majority of the members of the Midview Athletic Hall of
Fame Committee at a meeting held for this purpose. Notice of this
meeting, to include a copy of the proposed amendment, must be mailed
to each member of the committee at least 10 days prior to the meeting
called for the purpose of considering the issue.
