The
mention of Midview High School Athletics will immediately recall the
names of some long time supporters and boosters, but the short list
will always include Guy and Lila DeNillo.
Guy and Lila’s interest in sports are deep rooted. Guy was a
well-known stock car driver at the Lorain County Speedway in the late
fifties and early sixties. He later became a starter and eventually
the president of the “Northern Ohio Stock Car Racing Association” (NOSCRA).
Lila was an avid bowler for years and was a league secretary,
president, and was inducted into the Elyria Women’s Bowling Hall of
Fame and has served as the emcee for many of their banquets.
It is the DeNillos’ devotion and loyalty to Midview Schools however,
and specifically Midview Athletics that have earned them this well,
deserved “Special Recognition” award. Their resume includes membership
in the Midview Boosters Club and Midview Touchdown Club where they
helped with game programs and performed countless other tasks
throughout the years. They were involved in raising funds for the “pay
to play” program and other fund raising campaigns for the benefit of
Midview students.
Guy took the game football films for the football team for a number of
years and with Lila, has sold tickets for Midview basketball, football
and volleyball games for more seasons than they can remember. In fact,
you will find Lila at the ticket booth this coming season and right
around the corner will be Guy selling 50-50 tickets at the home
basketball games. Guy and Lila have performed many other duties for
MHS too numerous to mention.
The Midview Athletic Hall of Fame is proud to present Guy and Lila
DeNillo with its “Special Recognition” award for their lifetime of
service and support for the benefit of the Midview High School
Athletic Program and its participating students.
Guy and Lila live in Elyria and have an adult son, Guy.
