Dan Boros is one of the best defensive backs to have played football
for Midview. His accomplishments in the secondary alone could earn him
his MAHOF induction. He also excelled in track and field.
Dan began to shine as a Midview football player his sophomore year,
when he impressed opposing coaches so much he was named all-conference
safety. The accolades continued his junior year, when he once again
was a standout in the secondary, leading Midview in interceptions. He
again was an all-conference selection at safety, and gave opponents
fits by not only taking away scoring opportunities with interceptions,
but scoring on them as well. He also led the Middies in scoring. Dan’s
senior year was memorable for him, his teammates, and Midview fans.
With Boros as captain, the Middies roared undefeated through
conference play, winning the championship, and compiled a glittering
8-1-1 mark. To no one’s surprise, he excelled on defense again leading
the team in interceptions. But he also dazzled offensively at
quarterback, as he directed the Middie attack. For his efforts, Dan
was named team MVP, received his third straight all-conference
selection at safety, and was the all-conference quarterback.
Dan’s track accomplishments were equally noteworthy. He was a
three-year letterman. He received the underclassman award from the
Chronicle Telegram Decathlon in his junior year. He was team captain
his senior year, and won conference championships in both the high
hurdles and the pole-vault. Dan was the team MVP and competed for the
second straight year in the C-T decathlon, he finished fourth.
After Midview, it was off to Mount Union College where he starred on
the gridiron. He lettered all four years, and was an all-conference
selection for three. Paralleling his Midview career, he led “Mount” in
interceptions his junior year, and was team MVP. Dan was team captain
and MVP in his senior year. He finished his Purple Raider career, just
two interceptions shy of the school record! He culminated his
outstanding career by being named All American.
Dan is a director of Global and Export Sales for his company and lives
in Elyria with his wife Debra and children, Alexandria, Daniel and
Kristin.
